Rona Shively has a lot on her mind. She just received a call from home telling her that her father was in the hospital and that things don't look good. Plagued by her inclination to avoid all things emotional, Rona takes a little longer time than necessary to pack her things so that she can join her mother and sister in her hometown of Clarkston, OH to be by her father's side.
Rona loves her father, hates her mother and can't seem to figure out her sister. To add to the confusion, her mother asks her to help a friend of the family with a "simple" matter that turns out to be much more dangerous than she ever imagined.
Rona wants to do the right thing, but it's been such a long time since she's done anything right that she's just not sure she can. Follow her as she does some much needed soul-searching.

This Side Up: The Rona Shively Stories
For Rona Shively, even the good news is bad news. She’s just returned from an extended stay in her hometown of Clarkston, Ohio and she’s all geared up for a change. The only problem is that when the notion of starting over begins to sink in, she’s compelled to rethink her enthusiasm. For a distraction, she starts working on a case for a fifteen year old girl that throws her into a mess of problems she can’t even begin to deal with.
In true Rona Shively fashion, she digs in deep and soon finds that this girl’s problems run much deeper than a gumshoe of mediocre talents can handle. This child doesn’t need a detective, she needs a therapist. And after it’s all said and done, Rona may need one, too.
Will she make the big move? Will she ever settle down and grow up? Will it take a teenager to convince Rona that it really is time for something new? What else could possibly happen to this crazy P.I.?
Rona Shively is bound and determined to change her life. But what will it take to make changes that will stick. For years, she's been stumbling along from one catastrophe to the next, but she finally has a good reason to get her act together.
At forty, she's facing the challenge of a lifetime and barring any unforeseen miracles, she'll be facing it alone. One phone call brings her world to a screeching halt and she's reminded that we only have one shot at getting this right.
If ever there was a time to take action, for Rona, that time is now. She's got a choice to make; either reach out to the only one who can help or settle in for a lifetime of pain and confusion. Of the broad or narrow way, which road will she choose? Come along and find out in Now You See Me: The Rona Shively Stories. Now available!.
